2022 Knoxville Gold Dollar Dogwood Open Tournament Announcement

It has been two years since our club has hosted an USATT sanction event.  We are happy to announce that we will host the Knoxville Gold Dollar Dogwood Open Tournament on April  9th, 2022.  The tournament will adopt a giant Round Robin format this time with a smaller player pool.  The tournament will be played at our club gym, the Tennessee Tennis Club and Academy Indoor facility, 2810 Ball Camp Byington Road, Knoxville, TN 37931.

The tournament will have two stages, the first stage will be round robin with 4 groups of 9 players each with a total of 36 players.  The top two finishes of each group will advance to the Upper Division Single Elimination Round Quarter Finals and the 3rd and 4th place finishes of each group will advance to the Lower Division Single Elimination Round Quarter Finals.

We will continue to offer Upset Gold Dollars as well.  For those who are familiar with our Gold Dollar Upset format, the winner of every upset match played between two USATT rated players will receive Upset Gold Dollar.  The rules for winning the upset Gold Dollar are:

  1. Gold Dollars will be paid to the winners of all upsets, regardless of player’s rating.
  2. Winners of each and every upset will receive gold dollars using the following payout schedule:
    1. Rating difference: 100 or less, Gold Dollar reward: $5.00
    2. Rating difference: 101 to 150, Gold Dollar reward: $10.00
    3. Rating difference: 151 or larger, Gold Dollar reward: $15.00
  3. The gold dollars will be paid immediately upon confirmation of match sheets showing upsets on a first come first get paid basis until the funds run out. KTTC reserves $200 Gold Dollars for this payout.  So sharpen your game and hit the court running fast!
  4. Rating used to determine the upsets will be the USATT ratings of record as of 09:00 a.m. Friday April 8th, 2021.  Only USATT rated players prior to the date of the tournament are eligible to win gold dollars.
  5. Both players have to be USATT rated before the tournament date to earn Gold Dollars.

Our tournament is full on omnipong.com!  Thanks everyone for their support.  However, if you are interested to put your name down into our waiting list, please email your name, USATT #, your phone number, and your email address to knoxvilletabletennisclub@gmail.com.  We will contact you on a first come first serve basis when there is a spot free up.  You can also register yourself via omnipong.com site for the tournament.  But you won’t be able to enter into the event.  When the spot opens up, we will add you to the event.
